Creating communities for non-religious South Floridians since 2004
There are lots of humanists groups out there. Why should I join FLASH?
FLASH has been in existence since 2004 and is THE LARGEST ATHEIST GROUP IN SOUTH FLORIDA. Currently, we have over 500 online meet up members! FLASH has been involved in many activities that attempt to foster the goals of secularism:
Speaking at public meetings, town council meetings, at CFI gatherings (CFI =Center For Inquiry, which is another reason-based organization). We do many things with this organization. We try to be as active as we can in fighting for atheists’ rights! We do not believe in territorial disputes, we believe in ALL of our humanist/atheist organizations working together to dissolve the unfair privilege of religion in our society.
What if, after attending a few meetings I think that FLASH is too “out there” for me.
Fine! But don’t give up hope! Locate another group that may not be as “in your face” as we are. BUT STAY IN THE
I’m convinced! I want to help. How do I help?
GREAT! If you’ve made up your mind that you’ve “come to the right place”, just let any of the meet up organizers
know or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. If we have a project going, and we ALWAYS do, we can place you. If you have a project that you feel would fit into our atheist philosophy, LET’S HEAR IT! DON’T BE SHY! WE CAN’T THINK OF EVERYTHING AND ALWAYS ENCOURAGE NEW IDEAS FOR THE GROUP.
Can I bring a friend who isn’t an atheist to the meet up?
YES! We LOVE to debate and, maybe, change a mind. So if your friend wants to discuss any aspect of atheism, COME
I am not sure I want my friends and relatives to know I come to these meetings. Can I be sure you won’t disperse my personal information?
WE NEVER give out information about any of our members! We recognize the world as it is (being rationalists) and,
thus, understand the reluctance to let our friends, bosses, relatives know our feelings. For instance, when we send out our newsletter, all addresses other than mine are blind copies so no one can trace your e mail address.
I have kids and I want to bring them.. May I?
YES! We encourage you to start your children early on the path to rationalism and love to see them at our meetings!
Be forewarned: the language can get “salty”.
